Caring for your custom fishing rod.…
Before each season use a good paste or liquid car wax (no cleaners) on the rod to protect the surface.
If you have a multi-piece rod, push the sections together gently and rotate a quarter turn until the guides of each piece are aligned.
- Make sure all knots travel through the guides easily (do not tug on the end of the line to loosen a snagged line in a guide or tip top.)
- Carefully reel the line in at the end of the day taking time to dry the line and rod before putting it away.
Never leave a wet rod/line in an air tight case as mildew could form and cause materials to rot. - Always keep your rod in a hard case of wood, metal, plastic, etc. to protect it from being dropped, stepped on, or worse.
- Windows and tailgates cause more rod damage than most any other cause. Be careful!
- Do not “high stick” a rod as a severe curve (steep or 90º angle) in a tip section can cause stress to break the rod.
- Use nothing stronger than rubbing alcohol to clean your rod.
- When used, cleaned, and stored properly you new fishing rod should give you many, many years of hassle free service.
- The warranty, if any, on your custom rod(s) may be supplied by the blank manufacturer. If your rod is covered by the manufacturer of the blank, follow the instructions on the warranty card to receive warranty service.
- Rods I build without a warranty card I will cover for a period of 90-days and the rod owner will be charged the cost of replacement parts only.
